While living in Juneau, Alaska, my professional life in computers led me to filming the oral histories of Native Alaskan Tribal Elders for a project funded by the US DOE and the University of Alaska. Thus began my introduction to storytelling through ethnographic filmmaking.

Later, in the Lower 48, I created a multimedia installation concerning public video surveillance that led to my working for the Omnicom Group, at martin|williams. I had an insider’s eye into the storytelling cultures there alongside many talented people.

Along the way, I founded thinfilms as a platform to combine my creative and technical skills with my desire and gift for working well with people from many cultures and disciplines on equally diverse projects. I continue to work across contexts and sectors, particularly on projects intended for the greater good.

Anthropology, cinematography, ethnography, mythology, and screen direction are what influence my own visual literacy, my own storytelling culture and style.

My adaptive and intuitive skills in cinematography, directing, editing, mentoring, and producing, complimented by my background in technology, make me an asset on teams, as well as on projects with tight budgets where I may be required to work alone.

Thanks for reading. Perhaps you’ll consider getting in touch.
